Recently, we started weaving items from paracord, such as knife lanyards, keychains, and zipper pulls. I learned that experts recommend snipping the ends with micro-shears before melting the tips for a more polished finish. At first, I bought some cheap clippers that lasted only 10 minutes – the tip broke in half on my third snip! My second pair are the XURON 410 Micro-Shear Flush Cutters, and they have truly stood the test of time. They use a patented bypass method that produces a clean, flat cut. I appreciate their accuracy, sharpness, and ergonomics as well. The handles are made of soft-touch TPU-style plastic. Recommended. Made in Saco, Maine. Find them at Amazon...
Our Favorite Drybag Backpack
The BackSak by Skog A Kust is an awesome waterproof back pack for boating. We load up our dry bag every time we head out on the boat with pretty much every valuable item, plus anything we want to stay dry. BackSak has an IPX-6 waterproof main compartment made of welded seam 500 denier PVC. Integrated adjustable straps and a chest harness. It’s rugged, floats (of course) and the straps are comfortable. It comes in several colors and camo too – our favorite for hot temps is the high visibility yellow. The outside “splash proof” compartment get used a lot (mostly for cash and Sunbum sunscreen), since you don’t have to open the top and hunt around. The larger 35L is the way to go for our boating days. A great practical gift for the boater. “This pack gets lots of use. Recommended.” -Editor Find it at Amazon…
